*What is Tohban?
Tohban means ‘ceramic board’ in Japanese language. By its name it is a board that usually low in height, that enable user to fry, cook or steam. Most of the Tohban design are flat surface so that it allow food to be placed and cooked, hence to be consumed directly on the Tohban. Example of food commonly being prepared on Tohban is Okonomiyaki (famous Japanese signature savory pancake closely associated to Kansai and Hiroshima regions.)
